“Every human has a strong purpose in life. Some people work with that purpose and others just wait for that purpose to knock at their door.” – S.S.S. Nagarkoti.

 Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam

My respect and my great admiration for Dr.A.P.J. Abdul Kalam ji, shaped in my heart ever since I was in school. His way of life, his vision, always inspired me to walk on his steps and follow his teachings. He became my idol since then. Once I was in my hostel, I remember he had come on a visit to address the children. I fondly remember the long distance we all walked to hear him speak. Thousands had gathered to hear the great visionary speak. I was one of them too. The memory is still very fresh in my mind; how I jostled in the crowd from far away trying to catch his glimpse.

Some spark ignited in me and it became one of dreams to meet and seek blessings from him.

I will never forget the day when I lost my great teacher, Guru, and my Idol Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam ji. It just happened two days after my birthday. I got the news while I was sitting inside a restaurant in Kaza, Himachal Pardesh. The moment I got to hear the news of his sad demise, I went in great shock. I just went so numb and cold. I could not react or say anything. I went in deep silence, my heart was crying and shrinking inside and I felt as if I had lost my purpose of living; lost something very precious to my life.

After several hours of sitting in silence and sadness, I stimulated all my courage to go back to my home stay with my pet Max. When I reached my room, the constant pain of losing him and the emptiness made me realise that may be it was my purpose to meet my Guru Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam ji someday and make him feel proud about myself and that I can still do because, this life is not meant to stay here forever. We humans are just visitors and what we leave behind after we are gone and how people remember us is what really matters. And if I consider my Guru Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam then I would say he left so many things behind in terms of beautiful memories and his great achievements which will be remembered for centuries and above all he left so much of inspiration for the coming generations and generations.

He lived his entire life with such strong purpose and gave so much to his country and his people.

“We will be remembered only if we give to our younger generation a prosperous and safe India, resulting out of economic prosperity coupled with civilizational heritage” – Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam ji.

On his birthday today, I salute my great leader and a great man, My teacher, my idol, my guru Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam ji. I promise him to always abide by his teachings as his life is a message and a teaching in itself.

Happy Birthday, Sir!.
